Job Description
We are looking for a Technical Team Leader to lead an Analog & Chiptop Design team. You will be working on next generation sensor designs and architecture in our Brussels location.
This leadership position is part of an advanced technology team which is enabling the next generation of image sensors. The successful candidate will bring their deep knowledge and proven experience in sensor design to yield the highest quality of first silicon success. Your main focus will be on technically managing an IC analog/chiptop team inside the IC Design Center.
Responsibilities
Your role will be to focus on technically managing an analog and chiptop design team and to achieve quality and deliverables in time. The responsibility of the team covers the full lifecycle of a typical IC project from design feasibility phase to support reaching mass production, including specifications, design, verification and evaluation.
As Technical Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following matters:
- Accountability of your team: together with the project leader, you will be responsible for technically coaching and assisting your team members assigned to each CTQ project and to deliver tasks with the right quality and timing as expected from the project description.
- Define, execute and follow-up on the roadmap and developments.
- Manage the risk in your team operation through monitoring, assessment and mitigation phases.
- Contribute to problem solving with your team. Drive flow and methodology improvements to maximize the efficiency of your team.
- Define, implement and maintain the necessary tools to support the activities of your team.
- Management of the team members: plan the assignment of the team members, manage the competences inside the team, evaluate the performance, and perform hiring when needed.
- Co-operation with the other SDS teams in context of the project and establishing the mid-range plans.
- In-depth collaboration with the relevant Sony teams in Europe and Japan.
- Innovation: Within the scope of activities of your team and aligned with continuous competence management and improvements/learnings, you will also be attentive to promote and stimulate innovation in your team.
During the execution of your tasks, you will regularly follow-up and report status-updates to the IC Design Center Manager.
Qualifications
- You have a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- PhD in a relevant domain, or similar by experience, is an asset.
- You have more than 15 years’ experience in the analog design domain. Previous experience in a team leading position, project lead position or technical leader position with minimum 3 years in such a role is required.
- You have proven experience of working at the top level of a sensor or an ASIC.
- Experience in an Image Sensor industry is a strong asset.
- This position requires excellent communications skills: you have a strong command of English and you are able to communicate and work efficiently with various IC design teams (implementation, logic, pixel, verification etc).
- You have a deep understanding of advanced analog concepts, including blocks such as ADC, DAC, decoders, drivers, amplifiers, PLL, bandgap, voltage and current references.
- You are familiar with analog layout, with previous experience and the ability to analyze and debug.
- You can support your team through the silicon evaluation phase with analysis and debugging.
- You have a proven track record of achievement in the analog domain, including multiple tape-outs in recent technology nodes and in an industry environment leading to product.
- You have a good understanding of semiconductors physics, process, device and implementation. You are familiar with basic concepts of digital design, package and reliability.
- You have experience and affinity working with external and internal technical teams, with the necessary tact and social skills.
- You have an analytical mind, a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail. You are able to work in a team and take initiative to lead a project team, also in difficult and stressful conditions.
- You are goal-oriented, pragmatic and an innovative problem-solver.
- You are able to provide clear reporting, internally but also in interaction with external customers.
- You are willing to travel internationally if needed.
- Japanese language skills is a plus.
- Strong commitment and stress resistance are necessary, especially close to the release milestone.
